Creative Fundraising

Babysitting, garage sale, car wash, bake sale, craft sale, plant care, pet sitting... Projects have the added benefit of helping to occupy your mind in a productive way. If you have a creative streak, it can be therapeudic.

Ask if your veterinarian offers CareCredit (www.carecredit.com). CareCredit allows you to pay over time, and the loan will be interest-free if the balance is paid within a specified time period.

Some caregivers find that friends, family, and community members are willing to contribute financially if they are aware of a difficult situation.

Contact your local library for information about how to organize fundraising efforts.

Hold a "Vet Garage Sale": Clean house for cash! While you have the neighborhood's attention, make and sell sugar cookies or doggie biscuits shaped like doggie bones. Set out a donation can that has a photo and flyer which shows your pup and where their support is going -- or have your pup out there with you, if you can.

Dog wash: Ask local pet supply stores or others if they would be willing to host a dog wash where you wash dogs and the proceeds go toward fundraising.p

Greeting cards: Making greeting cards or other stationery with dog photos and selling them at local shops.

Bagging groceries: Some local markets will let you bag groceries for a benefit day and you keep the "tips." You can get friends and family members to help and all where cute T-shirts.

Donation cans: Take coffee cans and cover them with paper printed with information on your dog and fundraising needs. Ask local convenience stores, markets, hair salons, veterinarian offices, pet supply stores, etc, if they will let you leave a can there to collect donations.

YouTube: Make a video to post on YouTube about your dog, asking for donations through a PayPal account.

Yard sale: Hold a yard sale and ask friends, family, neighbors or area businesses for items they don't need that can be sold.

Cook-off: Have a chili or other kind of cook-off

Restaurant fundraiser: Ask a local restaurant if they will host a fundraiser night; a certain amount of the proceeds (for example fifty cents per taco) can go to fundraising.

Hair-raiser: Ask area hair stylists to volunteer time to give free haircuts for donations or a portion of the proceeds one day.

Car wash: Hold a car wash fundraiser.

Drag show: Contact your local gay bar or gay community center for contact information about what drag queens are in your area, and ask if they would hold a fundraiser show.

Bank accounts: Ask your local bank if they will set up a fundraising account and then post flyers at each branch. People will see the flyer while doing business at the bank and can make a donation at the counter. Also, if you have a bank account, you can use it for other donations and some people will be more comfortable making a donation to a bank account, rather than giving direct cash.

Posters: Make posters for local shops and markets.
